As we begin a new year, I think we all wonder a bit what uncertainties will lie ahead of us. There are two ways we can approach our future, in fear or in faith.
This past year, I had the opportunity to drive a four wheeler which was dragging an attachment to grate arena dirt. Now I had never driven one before, but it looked like a lot of fun. I guess that's just the kid in me. To my amazement, one of my good friends trusted me to drive as she leaped on the back and held tight to my waist! Her encouragement made the day, as she yelled, "Let's go, girlfriend!" There were some unexpected stops and starts, but we finally got it going in the right direction. Then we had the fun of accelerating around the corners. We got that arena grated!
I think Jesus does that for us as we face the challenges which lie ahead. He wants us to face the new year with courage and delight. Just like my friend who literally had my back and was cheering me on! He is saying, "Let's go! I'm with you!"
My kudos to you today is to look at the new year with a thrill of the unknown. Expect that God will be with you and as you invite him to ride with you through the unknown; you will feel him cheering you on. He's got your back!
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
