Out with the Old & in with the New!

Updated: Jul 13, 2023

It's 2023 and a new year has started! What are some things that you need to let go of in your mind and emotions that seem to haunt you like a skeleton in the closet?

I snapped this photo last year when I was caught off guard opening a closet in an Airbnb! Later that evening I also discovered that it glowed in the dark. Very symbolic, I think. Don't we allow our past mistakes or hidden vices to glow-in-the-dark places of our mind.

These skeletons can be past mistakes in relationships or business ventures. The enemy of our souls comes to remind us of our past so that we can not move forward. Some are even paralyzed in fear because of the dread that the same thing may repeat itself.

I have good news for you. You can rid yourself of these skeletons. You can put to death the past, so that new life can begin. It is a life principal started in Creation with the seed. How can a seed grow unless it first dies? Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and die it cannot start to change or grow into a stalk of wheat.

What new thing or things would you like to begin this year, but you feel held back from the skeleton in your closet?

My kudos to you today: Put to death the deeds of darkness by praying and asking Jesus to release you from your past. Tell Him you are sorry for the mistakes and then ask him to cover you with his blood to set your mind free, then thank Him by faith. Begin to allow yourself to receive His love and kindness that He wants to shower over your life. Read the Bible daily. The Psalms and the book of John are good places to start. Be happy and tell a supportive friend of your decision. Now you can start to grow into the beautiful soul that Christ has planned. You will see that from death comes life. So what do you say? Out with the old and in with the new!

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new. 1 Corinthians 5:17
