No Rain, No Rainbow

Yesterday on my travels across the city, I encountered a heavy rainstorm. My first impression was, oh no not a heavy rainstorm to drive in. It slows down traffic. Then I was reminded that I had been praying for rain because some of our grass in the yard is turning yellow from lack of rain and the local pastures need it too for the horses and cattle. Wow, I needed to repent of my double-mindedness. So I turned my complaint into a praise of thankfulness for the blessing of rain.

Half-way through the rainstorm, I drove out of a patch of rain clouds into a beautiful rainbow! It struck me how beautiful the rainbow is and I tried to capture a quick shot on my phone. Later, when reviewing the pics, I noticed my phone must have been on auto mode because it focused on the raindrops instead of the rainbow. Hmm... maybe this was a sign.

The simple happening reminded me that too often in life we are so busy trying to attain the perfection of life, that we miss the simple beauty of just rain drops. I was praying for green grass, but then when the rain frustrated my driving plans I quickly forgot the necessary events that needed to happen to answer the prayer. Maybe in life we pray for things and God answers, but when the rain comes first in order to bring the answer, we quickly loose sight that there is a rainbow behind the rain!

My kudos to you today is to be keep praying even when you don't see the answers. There may a few rainstorms that come your way in the waiting room of life. Just remember... no rain, no rainbow!

Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance round him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. Ezekiel 1:28
