Life in Between

What is your life sandwiched in between? Is it in between two pieces of white or whole grain? Is it your job and family? It is sandwiched in between stress and health problems? The choices could go on. But isn't life similar to a good sandwich? It's what's in the middle of the sandwich that counts!

After a week long stay in bed from a flu virus, cabin fever definitely kicked in! Decided to hit some trails for a walk. When we arrived it started to rain, but I wasn't going to let that stop me. (We keep rain slickers in the car for a reason!) Because some of the trails are in low lying areas we chose an unknown sandy, sloping path down by the lake. As it wove around the lake we ran into a crossroad with a sign post. Surprise! A beautiful board walk. And even more surprising were two portable bathrooms right at the trail head! Simple pleasures are the best. LOL

The rain continued with steady, gentle drops. It was actually refreshing and a relief from the heat wave that hits us during the hot summer days in Florida. We continued on for about a half a mile but had to do a u-turn, realizing the sun was quickly setting in the distance.

As we came close to the end of path, I breathed in a huge breath of pine tree and soil smell. It was so comforting to the soul, like a restful state of bliss. It was if I could sense God's peace in his creation. The sun was setting, the forest was beginning to cool and rain brought refreshment to the forest after a long, hot day in the sun.

My kudos to you today is to find the peace of God in the middle of your sandwich. His peace will bring refreshment to your soul. In the order of life, just like the forest, He provides for our weariness if we just seek Him out and spend time to quiet our souls. Allow yourself to unplug from all electronics and be still within nature. Let Him water your soul. After all is said and done, it's what's in the middle of the sandwich that counts. I pray you find the peace of God in getting to know his son, Jesus, and that you discover that His peace will bring rest to a weary soul.

You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it.

Psalm 65:9
