Kickin' it With Kale

Updated: Mar 26, 2022

Have you ever heard the old saying, "You are what you eat?" As Americans we love our snack foods and there are various arrays of choices these days which are enough to fill a whole isle in the grocery stores. We can find snack crackers, chips, doodles, flavored popcorns, pretzels, and the list goes on. But have you ever tried kale chips?

Yesterday, I bought a large bag of kale in the fresh produce section of the grocery store. I felt inspired this morning to do a test run on a kale chip recipe located from a google search. Basically you toss the kale in olive oil and garlic salt then bake them until crisp, about 15 minutes.

To my surprise, the flavor resembled something like a crouton! Maybe that's because I like garlic croutons. What a great way to add a super food to your salads. Kale is high in Vitamin C, Manganese, Vitamin K and Vitamin A. It is called a nutrient-dense food which is high in antioxidants, good for both your heart health and as an anti-inflammatory agent.

My kudos to you today is to "kick it with kale!" Try some of the green stuff today and everyday. Our bodies, as believers, are the temple of the Holy Spirit. (1Corinthians 6:19) Another meaning of being a body compared to a temple is that we should be physically and spiritually healthy. God desires to see his people "whole." Eating healthy can be one step to improving your wholeness in life!

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1Cor.10:31 NIV
