Hope in the Storm

At the beginning of spring, my hubby and I went to watch a sunset at Honeymoon Island State Park. The weather forecast for sunset did include some possible showers, but we decided to go anyway. Most of the sky was overcast, and the chance of watching the sunset looked dim. So we walked for awhile along the ocean edge and sat in the sand enjoying the sounds of repetitive waves with an occasional sea gull flying overhead.

I said a prayer out loud, "Lord it would be so wonderful if you could just clear the sky for a moment so we could see the sun and possible sunset." It was in minutes that the sky seemed to part and we were delighted to see the beauty of the skies! Wow!

Reflecting now on the photo, it came to me how the dark cloud is still there, but the sun breaks through in the midst of it all. Jesus wants us to know that he is the Son that can break through in the midst of our dark clouds.

Yesterday we had a surprise visit from some friends at church. They were so kind to bring us over dinner. A full five course meal starting with soup and ending with dessert. Within minutes our kitchen was filled with an abundance of fresh food, more than we could eat. Deli soup, chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, rolls, nectarines, grapes, and apple turnovers! These friends knew of our month long journey in Covid recovery. They wanted to express their love and concern for us. So they dropped the food off on the doorstep and we chatted briefly from a distance. What a blessing they were, like the sun breaking through in the middle of overcast and stormy skies.

So say a prayer today out loud, as you face your storm clouds. The "Son" is waiting to break through and reveal himself to you. My kudos to you today is that He is always there waiting and listening because he loves you so very much!

The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftmanship. Psalm 19:1
