A river of sand called “Sand River” runs through the Hitchcock Woods. After a heavy rain, the sand river becomes a real river for a short time, and the sand can become quicksand! In 1833 the longest railroad in the world and the first steam-powered railroad in the United States ran through the Hitchcock Woods.
We discovered one of it's tributaries near Tea Cottage Path this week. It was a clear running stream with fresh horse tracks and dog prints. Buddy was happy to find a drink of water not to mention jumping in the large pools! He typically shivers, whines and avoids water at all cost for baths, but amazingly he came alive in the natural element of the forest. It's like he discovered a new talent that he was created for. The longer we lingered the more excited he seemed to get by splashing and running up and down the banks.
In the beauty of the moment, I could see an analogy to our lives. God has created us each uniquely to fulfil a place that we were designed to accomplish. When we follow that still small voice it will lead us to a place of purpose, specially designed for us.
My kudos for you today is to get still and allow yourself to take a deep breath, in the quiet. Ask God to reveal his purpose and plan for your life. It might not come overnight or in a day, but I have learned over many years of seeking God that He will answer usually in His timing not my own. So go ahead and ask for specific answers. God is waiting to hear from you. He might just surprise you just like He did for Buddy, with a hidden stream of delight!
