Give Honor to Whom Honor is Due

This weekend we will celebrate Memorial Day as a nation. We remember all those military personnel who died in service to their country. We send our prayers to the family members and friends who will always live with loss. Kudos to your bravery to get up each day. I am one U.S. citizen who pauses, with many to say "thank you." May Jesus carry your burden of loss and give those lonely, never forgotten places, His comfort.

Freedom carries a price. The red in the American flag symbolizes courage and bravery and was the color of America's first flag. Red is also the color of blood, which was spilled daily by those fighting for our nation's existence during the Revolutionary War.

Many wars have come and gone since then, but we should never forget the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice and the families who lived with the pain of their loss. Freedom isn't free. We should all pause today and teach our children to pause and reflect of this day's sadness. For it is in this tradition that those who come behind us will know the meaning of "give honor to whom honor is due."

Give honor to whom honor is due. Romans 13:7 Proverbs 3:27
