Enjoy the journey

Yesterday was my birthday and I was hoping to go to the beach, but my husband's work schedule didn't allow that, and that's okay. I reflected on this fun memory from a few years ago. I'm symbolically lifting my hands here and letting go of this thing called age. Age is just a number. You've probably heard this before.

Embracing life where ever we find ourselves brings joy to our situations. It's not always the easiest, but it leads to a lot less frustration and headaches. When things don't go our way, we typically want to push back, at least I do. I want answers. Let's say for instance, we get stuck in a traffic jam due to an unforeseen accident further up the road. Do we begin to look at the beautiful blue sky around us or do we start to count how many cars are piling up or cutting into our lane. After the minutes turn into an hour stuck there we know it could be a bad accident. It is at this point, I usually quit my whining and begin to pray. I especially feel even more like a jerk, after I pass several cars badly smashed and an ambulance pulling away.

If it is possible, as much as depends on us, live at peace with everyone. Romans 12:18 This wise teaching is very applicable to me in the middle of Orlando traffic! Who knows what that driver may be going through that just cut you off and almost clipped your car. I know, my first reaction is to say, "You idiot!" But what if they just got a call that their wife who is in labor and they are dashing home to take her to the hospital. Maybe that extra slow driver is an elderly person who just lost a loved one and is driving home in great sorrow. We can't really know; that is why we shouldn't be aggravated by things outside our control. The world doesn't play by our rules.

So, my kudos to you today is to embrace your journey with peace, wherever it takes you!
