What is broasted turkey? It's when you roast a turkey and it gets a little burnt on top! It then is renamed broasted turkey. My friends were so kind to laugh along with me and insisted it tasted delicious! (Maybe my taster is still off from Covid, but it didn't taste right to me.) I'm thankful for our friends from church and the unity we share in Christ. It was great to laugh and sometimes cry as we shared our current journeys.
Life is like my broasted turkey. You desire for a picture perfect meal and then something goes awry. Even the best laid plans can have a hiccup along the way. No matter how carefully a project is planned, something may still go wrong with it. In this case, at least it didn't catch on fire!
On a serious note, my heart is so saddened by the unexpected tragedy this week with the Christmas parade in Wisconsin. What an horrific event for young children and the community to face. I pray that the nation will bow their heads and say a prayer for all those who are suffering needlessly today. I pray their community will gather around the families who are muddling through grief and injuries, both physical and mental. And we pray a unity will come to our nation.
My kudos to you today is to be a friend to someone who might need encouragement. If you've had differences, try being thankful for just their friendship. Put your arm around them and walk along side them through their situation. Give them a call, invite them for coffee, and if they have screwed up like I did with the turkey, tell them anyway, "It's really delicious! Maybe it just needs a little extra cranberry sauce!" :)
Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2
