Breath-taking Moments

This weekend my husband and I have been resting after a busy week of moving from one state to another. We are relocating out of Florida to a little cooler climate in western South Carolina. In the lobby of a charming, older inn where we are staying, I was drawn to this plaque. Outside of the inn were rocking chairs facing a wooded area with lots of pine trees and pine straw. My senses were ignited to the cold, crisp air filled with fresh pine scents. I breathed in deeply and exhaled. Oh, it was wonderful! It took my breath away. I felt rejuvenated.

Many are looking for more and more things to satisfy the longing in their souls. They are searching for material goods, vacations, or how about just having your bills paid off. But do any of these things really take your breath away?

My kudos to you: allow yourself to find simple moments that would take your breath away. We each have our own personal preference or own journey, but do we take time to "still" our souls in order that we can sense those pathways. For some it might be in music, art, electronics, math, or plainly sitting in front of a log burning fireplace to enjoy it's crackle or smokey embers.

Where to find such time, you say? I have found great solace in early morning time. Time before anyone else in the family awakes and all is calm. Others are night owls and can calm themselves while others fall fast asleep. Whatever your style, find it. God has created us to have communion with him in the quiet and stillness of our souls. I believe it is in these times that we can know Him. It is in knowing Him that we discover the joy of our existence. This will lead you to take your breaths in sync with Him. Then you will truly know what it means to say, I have had moments that "took my breath way." Ultimately, one day we will stand before our wonderful Creator and King. This really will be so wonderful that it will take everyone's breath away!

I saw - it took my breath away - the Lamb standing on Mount Zion. Revelation 14:1-12 MSG Bible
